Skin Testing

Allergy skin testing is the most accurate diagnostic test to determine a patient’s specific allergy profile. Testing is done in the office and results are available during the same appointment. Allergy skin testing is available for:

• Airborne allergens (pollens, molds, dust and animal dander)
• Food allergens

Blood Testing

A radioallergosorbent (RAST) test is a blood allergy test sometimes performed as an alternative to skin testing for patients who are unable to undergo routine allergy skin testing or those with food allergies. Blood is drawn at an off-site laboratory and results are available usually within three days. Blood testing is available for:

• Venoms (fire ant, wasp, honey bee, yellow jacket, yellow- and white-faced hornets)
• Penicillin

Pulmonary Function Testing

Pulmonary function testing is a non-invasive breathing test done in the office to assess for asthma. It shows the total lung capacity and can reveal any inflammation that may be present.
